Fairmont School Expansion
Fairmont School is located near the intersection of Newport Ave and La Colina. The FCA worked extensively with Supervisor Bill Campbell and the Planing Commission to define a compromise position on the expansion of the school enrollment beyond the existing use permit. Fairmont School had been in violation of the conditional use permit for some time. A compromise was reached that allowed a small increase in permitted enrollment over that allowed by the conditional use permit, changes in parking arrangements, and adding a median to Newport Avenue in front of the school.

- 1. FCA continues to give our residents the opportunity to attend forums and hear the issues. FCA hosted two such forums - one for the Tustin Unified School Board candidates and the other for the Third District Supervisorial candidates. We gave you the facts on both Measures W (El Toro Airport) and G (Tustin Unified School Repairs).
- 2. FCA supported the efforts of the residents directly affected by the proposed widening of Red Hill. Recently, the County announced that the project would not go forward. A working group will be established to plan modest safety improvements of the sidewalks and street.
- 3. Officials at John Wayne Airport have agreed to work with FCA on an alternative approach pattern to John Wayne Airport. An airport working group has been formed.
- 4. Our E-mail Newsletter has been launched. Please remember to notify our president Bruce Junor (at bjunor@aol.com) when you change your e-mail address so that we can keep you up to date on Community news.
- 5. Our web site is being developed, and will be up and running in early 2003.
